anonymous May 16th 2022 !⃝We all know Penelope Scott's lyrics choice is never a coincidence, it's certainly about someone wanting to be a doctor that's for sure. And I believe this song is about how greedy & sick the American healthcare system tends to be.
The lyrics;
"Well, people die every day, I wouldn't have it any other way, I just think that they should feel good while they are alive." and "You corporate fucking prick. I did not become a doctor just to suck the devil's dick."
Shows this perfectly. It shows that--maybe when she was younger--she wanted to be a doctor, but she noticed how corrupted the American healthcare system is as she got older. And with that said, she probably felt unnerved that a healthcare system, made for caring people, not collecting their money, would be so greedy.
